Afrocat at Brighton Pride
Afrocat has performed in the UK, USA, Brasil, Ghana, India, Colombia, Ethiopia, Cambodia, Spain, Dubai, Portugal, Italy & Austria, from an impressively eclectic collection, with a particular focus on 70’s styles, production and vibes, with a shot of Studio54.
She is a connoisseur of heavy basslines and badass beats, and truly delights in sharing only the finest international sounds including deep funk, dancefloor jazz, vintage reggae, dub, disco, blues, Afro-Latino rhythms, 70’s blaxploitation & 60’s Italian soundtracks, psychedelic grooves, originals, and obscura.
Afrocat trained in sound engineering at Mute Records, London, and produces her own original music fusing dub, jazz & hip-hop, with her own lyrics and vocals.
Afrocat hosts her radio show, Blaxploitation Lounge, on Threads Radio and Slack City, with a previous residency on Aaja Music.
She performs at gigs frequently, and loves nothing more than playing at festivals, clubs, and events, lifting the vibration, and spreading some love…

There has been an incident around Côte d’Ivoire that has caused disruption on the major undersea cables serving Ghana. This has disrupted internet and data services on MTN and Telecel (former Vodafone).
1. There is a cable breakdown between Accra and Dakar on SAT 3
2. The alternate path on WACS is also down
3. These outages could take long to come up

‘Afrocat’s Lost Tracks: Accra to Addis’ is a compilation album in the making, uncovered on her journeys to Mama Africa, in 2024 , visiting Ghana and Ethiopia. Full of rare, vintage 60’s & 70’s Afro jazz, psychedelic, funk, gospel, afrobeat and highlife tracks. The collection will be released on vinyl, and be available on digital download in 2025.
